Actually the best place to practice the Zone Diet is at home. It always seems though, when you read about these diets and programs, that they never account for some things in the real lives of people.

It’s okay if you are a single guy and live alone and can follow the Zone Diet to the letter. It is quite another if you are a mother with children and a husband. For various reasons, not everyone in your life will become Zone Diet groupies, if you proclaim you would like to subscribe to the Zone Diet doctrine.

When you decide to participate in the Zone Diet lifestyle, first tell your loved ones exactly what you have in mind. Explain what the Zone Diet is and review the types of foods you will be choosing, and also the ones that you will be avoiding.

Your 7 year old may have a fit that there will be no more cheeseburgers, served in the house, ever again. Take each case into account and make compromises within reason. If you are not in the habit of making separate meals for everyone, then don’t start. Perhaps, make a deal with the 7 year old that you will make a special cheeseburger for him; say once a month, if he will eat the fruits and vegetables that are now being served for other meals.

Encourage Healthy Eating

There is nothing magical about Zone Diet foods, they are just food. But for family members that are not participating, allow at least their choice of portion size if they must eat foods that are not their favorites. In other words don’t force anyone to Zone Diet with you, but encourage healthy eating anyway.
